Both physically and mentally, surfing has multiple health benefits that make it one of the most complete sports of the moment. 
You probably won’t feel it the first time you set out to catch a wave, but as you practice and find the perfect board for you, you will be able to experience many of the benefits of surfing. Here are some of the main benefits of surfing for our health: 

Relaxation

Surfing is a sport that allows us to be in contact with nature as it is practised directly from the sea. Thus, almost involuntarily, mental fatigue or stress due to different issues will fade away as you feel the sea, the waves and the wind. Being submerged in the middle of nature will release tension and relax your mind with every movement of the water.

Improving the quality of sleep

One of the greatest benefits of surfing is the secretion of melatonin that occurs with its practice. This contributes to the regulation of circadian rhythms, essential for regulating sleep rhythms. In addition, the activity and physical exhaustion required for surfing will release adrenaline and make you physically tired when it’s time to sleep.

Improved physical condition

Another great benefit of surfing is the gradual strengthening of different muscle groups. As it is a sport that requires fast and continuous movements, it constantly tones both the upper and lower body. If you surf regularly, you will notice how your physique starts to become more toned and your muscles stronger.

Sea water is the best natural exfoliator our body can have. Therefore, surfing in seawater can promote the elimination of toxins and cell regeneration.
