Beginner Surf Lessons
Who is this course for?
Our beginner surf lessons are for everyone. You don’t have to be a great athlete – just willing to spend some time on the beach and in the ocean with us, having fun! Your wetsuit, board hire, lunch and transport to and from the beach is included in the lesson.
Is it safe?
Our beginner lessons always take place in secure, waist-deep water and our fully qualified instructors will always be at your side. We keep our groups small so you will always have a dedicated instructor.
How quickly will I learn?
Everyone learns to surf at a different pace – it depends on individual talent and fitness. Whatever your ability, you’ll have a great time learning with us!
Beginner Surf Lessons – Course Details
What will I learn?
Our friendly and professional instructors always start with the basics of surfing. How a wave works, how to paddle a surfboard to catch a wave, and how to stand up and ride your very first wave.
Will I feel safe?
Your safety is important to us – lessons start with a dynamic yoga-inspired warm-up on the beach to get you surf-ready. We always cover how to stay safe in the water and surfing etiquette, plus our instructors are with you all the time.
Why do I need surf lessons?
There’s a lot more to surfing than people might think! Learning with a qualified instructor will mean you’ll be doing all the right things in a safe environment from the start. Why not take a five or 10-day course to progress more quickly?
Practical beginner surf exercises on the beach of Famara
Your surf instructor is always on your side
Most of our students catch their first wave on the first day
Beginner Surf Lessons – Instructors
All our surf instructors are skilled and professional, certified by the International Surfing Association (ISA) and the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS).
We keep our groups small, always working to a maximum of eight students per instructor, in keeping with the recommendation of the ISA.
Beginner Surf Lessons – Equipment
Surfboards: For beginner lessons, we always use soft surfboards with soft fins to prevent injury. We also use extra-long leashes, so the board doesn’t drag you when you fall off, and you have some extra time to protect your body.
Wetsuits: Your body will be protected (from the sea, the board and the sun!) with one of our high-quality wetsuits from top brands include Xcel, Quiksilver and Roxy.
WARNING: The sun here is very strong, so we also recommend applying high-factor water-resistant sunscreen to the exposed parts of your skin. Sunscreen is available in our surf shop in case you forget to bring your own.
