How do I make a reservation?

There are 2 options: 

Go to the bookings page and find your preferred package. Complete the reservation form, pay, and get an instant confirmation. 

In case you don’t find a specific package, or have an extra request, you can also contact our operators, writing us an email, or through the contact form on our webpage.

Is there a minimum amount of nights?

Yes, we don’t accept bookings below 2 nights. In our surf camp, we want the people to stay longer and get to know each other well.

Can I book accommodation only - without any lessons?

Unfortunately, we can’t offer accommodation only. We need our surf houses for our surf and kite school students.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, only 100% pre-paid bookings can guarantee your participation.

Can I get a refund if I cancel my trip?

Yes, you can get a refund according to our cancellation policy which you can find in our General Terms & Conditions https://redstarsurf.com/general-terms-and-conditions

For unforeseen changes, short term cancellations or injuries, we highly recommend you purchase international travel insurance.

Do I need additional accident insurance for the surfing lessons?

It’s up to you, but it’s not necessary. All participants of our surfing and kitesurfing lessons are covered by medical accident insurance.

Can I check-in late?

Of course you can! Should you foresee a late arrival in Famara, after 7pm, please let us know in advance. We will provide you with some detailed check-in instructions.

Do I need a negative covid test to check-in?

The situation is changing constantly. Please, check the actual legal requirements of your home country for travelling to the Canaries. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain

I don’t find the right package on the reservation page, do I have to stick to the available packages?

 No, you can contact us, and we can customize the package for you with required upgrades and additional services.

How much time in advance should I make a booking?

The earlier you book, the wider choice of accommodation you will have. In order to provide quality surf lessons, bookings not later than 1 day in advance can be accepted.

Getting Here

How do I book a flight?

There is an aerial connection from nearly any bigger European city with direct flight several times a week. To get the actual prices and the availability, please refer to the pages like Skyscanner. https://www.skyscanner.com

How do I get to Famara?

There are 4 options: 

you can rent a car for approx. €100/week, 

you can rent a scooter (a bit more expensive than a car), 

you can get a bus (around €5, might take longer than your flight to Lanzarote), 

you can get a taxi (approximately €35, takes around 25 minutes).

Where can I get a Rental Car?

At the airport you will find loads of car rental companies. We recommend that you reserve a car in advance. Our partner rental company Payless Cars offers cars from 100 EUR/week and can bring you the car to Famara, in case you didn’t rent it upon arrival at the airport. Please, contact us in order to get a quote for you.

Are there ATMs in Famara?

There are ATMs in Caleta de Famara where you can withdraw money with your bank card.

How much money do I need to take with me?

According to your preferences and wishes, you can spend daily between €25 and €100+, if you eat out 3 times a day. A cup of coffee in any bar in Famara is around 1 EUR.

What’s the Nightlife like in Famara?

Famara is a quiet fishing village and doesn’t host nightclubs. There are a few bars where you can have a couple of drinks and play billiard but they all close pretty early. By midnight Famara falls asleep.

Surf Camp

What is a Surf Camp?

Surf Camp Packages consist of surfing lessons and accommodation in a surf house nearby the beach and the surf school.

What is a Surf House?

Surf House is where surfers sleep and chill between the surf sessions. Our surf houses are within a two-minute walk to the beach and to the surf school. They are completely equipped to cover our guests’ needs. 

Do I have to bring my own towels and bedding?

Our surf houses are completely equipped, you won’t have to bring anything. Daily cleaning service. Bedding is changed every 3-4 days. 

Is there free WiFI in the Surf House?

Yes, we provide high-speed WIFI in all our houses — free of charge. Perfect place to co-work and chill after surf.

Surf School & Surf Shop

What kind of surfboards are available at Red Star Surf?

For our guests, we stock any imaginable type of surfboards in our surf shop in Famara. Wide selection of Softboards, Longboards, Shortboards, Mini-malibus and many more! When you rent a board with us you can swap it daily, according to the conditions. 

Will I need a wetsuit?

During summer months the water temperature usually varies between 23 and 26℃. You can surf in board shorts, or a spring suit.

From November to April, the water temperature varies between 17 and 21℃. On sunny and wind-still days, you might be able to go for a quick paddle in board shorts. For a longer session most people prefer using a full-suit of minimum 3mm thickness. If you don’t have a wetsuit, you can rent, or buy one in our surf shop in Famara.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

All the surf equipment is provided by the surf school. You won’t need to bring anything but the will to learn how to surf. 

Is there anything else I should bring?

You should bring a beach towel, flip-flops, beachwear, sunglasses and some sun protection. If you prefer to travel light, no problem — our well-stocked surf shop will provide you with everything at very competitive prices. Bear in mind that the Canaries are a tax paradise with a super low VAT. Also, have a look at our online store Surf Shop Lanzarote.

What time do the courses start?

Surfing: Meeting time for the surf courses at Red Star Surf are every day at 10 am. Half day courses go until 12.30 and the full day lessons until 2.30pm.

Kitesurfing: Kite courses schedule is flexible and needs to be confirmed by the surf shop, via email, or directly by your instructor. In order to provide quality lessons we depend on specific tides and wind conditions.

Yoga: Yoga schedule changes weekly and needs to be confirmed with us in the surf shop, or via email.

Are Lanzarote Waves suitable for Beginners?

Famara is one of the best beach breaks in the world for beginners and intermediate surfers. The beach Playa Famara is one of Spain’s most beautiful and longest beaches. A mild climate, warm water, and super consistent conditions all year round!
